ADVISORY BOARD LEADERSHIP LAB
Get your seat at the table!
Girls Crushing It is celebrating 10 years—and our next chapter needs a new generation of girl-powered leaders. We’re inviting a select group of girls to go behind the scenes and help shape where GCI goes next with our Advisory Board Leadership Lab.
This three-part series challenges girls to think beyond what they can build individually and explore what it takes to create impact at scale. Participants will step into the boardroom, learn about governance, strategic planning, finance, executive communication and project leadership. They will put their skills into action by shaping GCI’s 10th Anniversary Season of programming.
Participants who successfully complete the three-part series will receive:

An invitation to serve on GCI’s Teen Advisory Board

Certification in Capital One’s “Bank On It” and “Budgets Made Easy” courses

Access to letters of recommendation from GCI leaders based on demonstrated participation, leadership and contributions

The opportunity to log volunteer service hours through participating high schools
The incoming Teen Advisory Board will join a growing network of GCI youth leaders and alumnae who have gone on to colleges including Brown, Stanford, Georgetown, Santa Clara University, UC Berkeley, USC, University of Wisconsin–Madison, and Hampton.

This program is open to grades 6–12. All workshop sessions run from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the Capital One Café in Walnut Creek. Space is limited. There is a suggested donation of $25 for this program. Donate here.
Our Teen Advisory Board will meet every other month via Zoom through May 2027. Dates and time TBD based on member availability. Members will have the ability to pitch and spin off passion projects that support our mission while exploring an area of interest.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is there a Winter Pop-up Shop?
No. Instead, we’re using the season leading into GCI’s 10th Anniversary to work with our Teen Advisory Board on strategic planning and ensure our programs meet the needs of the next generation of participants.
Who can participate?
This program is open to grades 6-12.
Is attendance at all three workshops required?
Yes. The Leadership Lab is project-based, with each session building on the previous one, so participants must attend all three sessions.
Do I need pop-up experience?
No. Our Teen Advisory Board will include girls with a range of experience—from seasoned entrepreneurs to those bringing fresh perspectives and ideas.
Will participants work on real GCI projects?
Yes. Teen Advisory Board members will dream up initiatives that meet the needs of our young entrepreneurs.
How much work is required outside of the bi-monthly meetings?
Teen Advisory Board members will be asked to review a Board packet in advance of each meeting. They will also have the opportunity to take on leadership roles bringing their ideas to life.
Is there a fee?
No. The GCI Advisory Board Leadership Lab is free to participants. A $25 suggested donation helps us cover the costs of producing the three-part series, but is completely optional. Donate here.
