This 90-minute session will cover:​

Identifying an idea based on your passion or a market need

Defining your target customer

Conducting benchmarking research

Developing and delivering a 30-second sales pitch

Launching Your Online Shop
Prerequisites: Entrepreneurship 101 or Nasdaq Camp or Accelerator

Capturing professional-quality product photos with your smartphone

Developing your online storefront with Etsy & Square

Uploading product inventory

ADVANCED
Masterclass: Advanced Strategies for Online Shop Excellence
Prerequisites: Entrepreneurship 101 and Launching Your Online Shop or Equivalent Experience

Part 1:
Customer Experience (CX) Design
3:00 - 4:30 PM; Virtual via Zoom
This 90-minute session will cover:​

Put yourself in your customer’s shoes to explore your shop in a new way

Learn about the “customer journey” and how you can support your customer as they learn about your products, decide to buy, and receive and use your products

Identify changes you will make to your product, marketing, shop, or fulfillment process based on your new knowledge
-
You will be invited to submit your shop URL to our staff for an optional Best Practices Audit
Part 2:
Taking Your Online Shop to the Next Level
3:00 - 4:30 PM; Virtual via Zoom
This 90-minute session will cover:​

Now that you have a better of understanding of what your customers want, what you can do to support them, and what changes may be needed, it’s time to explore how you’ll get it done!

Take a look at some of the hidden sales, marketing, and fulfillment features of Etsy and other online shop platforms
-
Develop an implementation plan for improvements and modifications
-
Identify who will be involved, steps you need to take, and set your own due dates for re-launching your new and improved online shop!
Completion of this course is required if you wish to participate in the virtual pop-up shop and have already completed the aforementioned prerequisites.
POP-UP SHOP
APR 17-18
Virtual Pop-up Shop
Prerequisites: Launching Your Online Shop & Masterclass series
To ensure a great experience for our girlpreneurs and their customers:

Store inventory must accurately reflect in-stock merchandise
-
Girlpreneurs should periodically monitor inventory and make an announcement when all items are sold out
-
As a safety precaution, parents should monitor and respond to online customer inquiries
Note: Girls Crushing It is an educational nonprofit. Your tuition covers educational workshops. The pop-up shop is a free, optional add-on for girls to grow their leadership muscles and confidence. As such tuition should not included when calculating business expenses.

Product Samples Due
Each participant is required to mail (1) product sample to Girls Crushing It HQ.

Products will be photographed for inclusion in our virtual pop-up shop website and will be used for promotional purposes including print collateral, live product demos and unboxing videos etc.

Please note products will not be returned
APRIL 4
Website submission and inventory check-in
In order to help girls succeed, we are requiring some checkpoints:

Provide the link to your online store

Submit Inventory Check-in Report, including photos

Sign-up for (optional) online shop audit, where our staff will review and provide feedback on your online shop
APRIL 25
Deadline for shipping orders is April 25
To ensure timely arrival:

Ship orders by April 25

Clearly communicate your shipping time frame to customers

YOUR CHILD WILL BE EXPECTED TO:
-
PRODUCE AND MAKE AVAILABLE FOR SALE ONLINE between 12 - 50 pieces of inventory, depending on price point and labor intensity. Girls will set their own inventory production goals.

CREATE AN ONLINE SHOP on Etsy, Square or other platform.
-
ENSURE YOUR ONLINE SHOP IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS from March 17 - 18 for our Virtual Pop-up Shop.

DESIGN OR MAKE the products sold in their online shop i.e. simply buying, marking up and reselling a mass-produced product is not permitted.

Adult participation in all stages of business development is encouraged and necessary for some elements of online shop creation.
-
We are unable to accomodate businesses selling services, food or other perishable items.
-
Our programs are geared for ages 10 - 18.
