OVERVIEW
We're kicking off the 2022 Season with our Entrepreneurship 101 workshop, which is open to participants of all experience levels. More seasoned entrepreneurs will take part in our Advanced workshop, exploring the paths of three dynamic women founders whose mission-driven enterprises are making an impact in the world. Participants will leave our workshops empowered and inspired to crush it at our Spring Pop-up Shop in Orinda, California!

This 60-minute session will cover:​

Identifying an idea based on your passion or a market need

MARCH 20
FOUNDER HOUR WORKSHOP: PRODUCTS WITH PURPOSE
Prerequisites: Entrepreneurship 101

This 60-minute session will cover:​

The responsibilities and characteristics of a founder

An up-close look at three visionary women founders (case studies)

POP-UP SHOP
MAY 1
Spring Pop-up Shop
Prerequisites: Entrepreneurship 101 or Founder Hour
2:00 - 5:00 PM (Arrive at 1:00 PM)

Participants will:
-
Actively promote our Spring Pop-up Shop to ensure a bustling marketplace
-
Produce between 25 - 50 pieces of inventory
-
Merchandise and staff a table with their own one-of-a-kind products or services
-
Pitch their products to shoppers during our Spring Pop-up Shop
-
Fund their business endeavor and keep 100% of their profits (Tuition should not be deducted when calculating profit * )
Please note: Upon completion of "Entrepreneurship 101" or "Founder Hour: Products with Purpose", students may participate in the optional Spring Pop-up Shop

TUITION:​
Tuition for this program is $90 per child.
* Girls Crushing It is an educational nonprofit. Unlike a craft fair, your tuition/registration fee covers our entrepreneurship programming i.e. curriculum development, instructors etc. The Spring Pop-up Shop is an optional, free event for students to gain practical experience. As such, tuition should not be deducted when calculating your child's profit.

CONSIDERATIONS: ​

This program is geared for ages 8 - 17

Business experience is not required to apply for this program, however applicants should have a well-honed business idea

Drop-off is strictly prohibited for the Spring Pop-up Shop; Parent/guardian must remain on site at all times

We are unable to accommodate businesses selling food

Business expenses are the sole responsibility of the participant
-
The pop up shop will be held outdoors. Participants will be expected to follow all applicable Covid-19 protocols and mandates in effect during the time of the event
EXPECTATIONS:​
Your child will be expected to adhere to the following Spring Pop-up Shop schedule (parental/guardian support is required):
1:00 - 1:15 PM Arrive and unload supplies
1:15 - 2:00 PM Set up table
2:00 - 5:00 PM Actively manage shop and sell to customers (taking breaks as necessary)
5:00 - 5:30 PM Break down table​

MASTERCLASS: MASTERING YOUR PITCH
January 23, 2022

Girls Crushing It and Title Nine are teaming up to offer up-start entrepreneurs ages 10 - 17 a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sell their products in-store at Title Nine's bustling Berkeley, California location and a $500 cash prize to invest in their business endeavor. This course helped to equip participants with the confidence and skills to crush their pitch!
FALL 2021 POP-UP SHOP

Our young entrepreneurs sharpened up their pitch skills and dusted off their display stands for our first in-person pop-up shop in 18 months. We were elated to set up shop at the Moraga Pear & Wine Festival.

This pop-up was a blockbuster! Hundreds shoppers logged on for this virtual event where budding entrepreneurs sold everything from jewelry with inspirational messages to custom pet stickers and Nigerian-inspired handbags.​

In response to the overwhelming demand for our programming, we launched our East Contra Costa (ECC) County cohort, which sold out. Girls participated in e-commerce workshops in preparation for our ECC Virtual Spring Pop-up Shop.​

GIRLS CRUSHING IT STARTUP ACCELERATOR
October 10 - 31, 2020

This entry-level program was offered to girls in the early stages of starting a business as well as those kickstarting a business from scratch. Participants were awarded startup capital, stipends and had access to 1:1 business coaching.

Our entrepreneurs participated in an interactive, behind-the-scenes trip to Title Nine headquarters—the largest independently-owned and operated retailer in the women's fitness and adventure space. The day included department tours, product ideation and presenting to Title Nine CEO, Missy Park.
MASTERCLASS: CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE (CX) & ONLINE SHOP EXCELLENCE

This masterclass was offered to our advanced cohort who have been working for more than a year on launching and managing their online storefronts. Our customer experience curriculum was truly MBA-inspired and equipped our seasoned entrepreneurs with the skills to help take their shops to the next level.

After migrating their businesses online, more than 50 of our girlpreneurs sold their products at our Virtual Winter Pop-up Shop. Thousands of visitors logged on to shop and support our young entrepreneurs as they flexed their leadership muscles during the pandemic.

Along with Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center, we offered Course #2: Give Your Business a Social Distancing Makeover. In this course girls used Stanford d.school's design thinking framework to strategize ways to adapt their business models in response to the pandemic.

After our debut at the farmers market, we put a call out on social media for a few girls to join us at our next farmers market pop-up. More than 40 girls signed up and we outgrew the farmers market. More than 400 people attended this event, and we incorporated as a nonprofit shortly thereafter.

Our entrepreneurs grabbed their coziest pajamas for a self-care pajama party with Girls Crushing It BFF, Angela Caglia. Girls learned lifelong skills to help balance their busy lives and nurture their​ emotional well-being. They also had fun trading tips on finding pockets of joy.
